Frequently asked questions about safety, technology, and usage.
Safety & Privacy
How is Omigo distinct from older platforms?
Unlike unmoderated legacy platforms, Omigo uses a hybrid approach. We employ AI visual scanning to detect inappropriate content in real-time, combined with a robust community reporting system. Bad actors are banned efficiently to keep the environment friendly.
Do you record my video chats?
No. We use Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology. The video stream flows directly from your device to your partner's device. We do not have servers that record or store your private video conversations.
Technical Support
My camera isn't working. What do I do?
1. Check if another app (like Zoom or Teams) is using the camera.
2. Click the lock icon in your browser address bar and ensure "Camera" permission is allowed.
3. Refresh the page.
I'm getting stuck on "Connecting to network..."
This usually happens if your firewall is blocking the P2P connection. Try switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data to test. If you are on a school or work network, they may be blocking WebRTC connections.
Community
How do I report a user?
In the video chat interface, you will see a flag icon or a "Report" button. Click it immediately if a user violates our terms. This alerts our system and helps ban the user from communicating with others.
Can I use Omigo on my phone?
Yes! Omigo is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can use it in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android) and even install it to your home screen for a full app experience without visiting the App Store.
